South Cumbria Occupational Health and Safety Group (SCOHSG) is a forum where companies can;
- keep up-to-date with health and safety legislation,
- discuss practical solutions to health and safety problems,
- listen to specialist speakers covering a range of safety topics,
- meet Health and Safety Practitioners from other organisations for informal advice.
Organised by volunteers it is a forum with representatives from small and medium sized companies from South Cumbria.
A SCOHSG company subscription allows one or more employees of member companies to attend meetings, irrespective of their health and safety qualifications.
In 1989 SCOHSG and South Cumbria IOSH District (now Branch) Committees agreed to hold joint meetings as a way of providing added value for their members with opportunities for networking and an opportunity for members of small and medium sized companies to receive informal advice from qualified H & S professionals. South Cumbria & North Lancashire IOSH District was upgraded to an IOSH Branch in 2017.
IOSH members can attend these joint meetings (at no extra cost), as part of their IOSH subscription but, if they arrange for their company to subscribe to SCOHSG this entitles the company to send more than one employee to meetings for training on relevant topics. IOSH membership only entitles the IOSH member to attend meetings.
Company membership can be used to help promote a positive safety culture in your workplace.
