21 August 2020, Zoom meeting,

Speakers: Logan Smith  & Doug Dennison, Directors, Unmasked Mental Health, Halifax &

Logan introduced the session by telling members that mental health and wellbeing is a valuable asset that people often take for granted. He said that research has shown that nearly 50% of people in England are likely to suffer from some form of mental illness during their lifetime. This can affect their ability to function adequately at home, at work and or in a social environment.

Logan and Doug explained why they decided to use their experiences of suffering from, and coping with, mental stress as a way of helping others to develop coping mechanisms to boost their resilience and improve their personal wellbeing. Their experiences led them to advocate five ways of improving mental and physical wellbeing – a series of coping mechanisms that individuals can adapt for their own circumstances.

Unmasked’s goal is simple – to remove the stigma surrounding mental ill health, nationwide, and get people talking.
