Farm safety – the challenge of managing animals, equipment, anaerobic digestors, slurry tanks and grain silos safely with case studies.
March 19 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Speaker: Daniel Pyrah, NFU Mutual
The most common causes of non-fatal farming injuries are – slips, trips or falls, being struck by moving objects (including flying or falling objects), falls from height, contact with machinery and being injured by an animal.
Daniel has a wide knowledge of the farming industry and the hazards faced by agricultural workers, who often work alone in remote areas. He will use case studies to illustrate the management problems associated with developing effective management systems for the safe use of farm equipment, anaerobic digestors, slurry tanks and grain silos as well as looking after animals and keeping the family safe.
Members are encouraged to take part in an interactive discussion with speakers.
There will be an opportunity to network with other members and the speaker over tea and coffee before and after the main meeting.
There will be a committee meeting after the main meeting.
