Works visit:
We were privileged to have the opportunity to visit Pelta Medical Papers, a specialist manufacturer of medical and food packaging papers in Beetham, Cumbria.
The visit was hosted by Debbie Sumner, Health and Safety Manager, Pelta Medical Papers who gave members an overview of the history of the site, work activities on site and the site’s health and safety management systems – with an insight into particularly challenging safety problems and how they have been resolved.
Members were then taken on a site tour where they were encouraged to use site safety observation sheets to record information about work activities and site safety management.
The group then returned to the meeting room where they discussed what they had learnt during the visit. Ian Dandy, Chairman, South Cumbria & North Lancashire IOSH Branch, thanked Debbie and her helpers for organising such a worthwhile and interesting works visit and presented her with a token of the group’s appreciation.
